Engineering 2nd Year Life - After Completing Diploma
The Result Day:
After completing the exams, I anxiously awaited my diploma results. Finally, on a certain date, the results were declared and hurray! I managed to achieve a decent score in my diploma. And guess what? I even became the college topper! 🏆 Oh, by the way, let me share a secret with you. During the exams, I was feeling quite depressed and scored lower percentages because my mind was preoccupied with negative thoughts. But shh, keep it a secret! Let's focus on the positive - I scored well and now it was time to find a good college.
Finding College:
Finding the right college wasn't too difficult for me. I referred to YouTube, Google, and various other resources to study and analyze the best colleges. I made an extensive list, with my top priority being colleges located in Pune city. You see, everyone wants to go to Pune to study, but my reason was different. I wanted to go there because I am a sensitive and introverted person. I struggle with public speaking and I'm not very social. I guess you could say I'm a mix of introvert and extrovert. Anyway, after making my list, it was time to fill out the forms and secure a college spot.
Mission: Getting College in Pune:
I finally filled out the forms and anxiously awaited the college allocation. And guess what I saw? I got a college in my hometown! I literally cried that day. All my friends got colleges outside of our hometown, and I was the only one who ended up here. Now, don't get me wrong, the college wasn't bad at all. In fact, SGGS is one of the best colleges in Maharashtra. But my dream was to explore and overcome my weaknesses by stepping out of my comfort zone. Yet, here I was, admitted to a college in my own backyard. The next day, I went to the college to confirm my seat, and well, here I am, right where I started. If someone were to ask me how far I've come after completing my diploma, I would say 100 steps ahead. Why? Because my engineering college is just 100 steps away from my diploma college. I was filled with tension and depression, longing for a different experience.
First day at college... 🎒
Going to my engineering college, it felt like the same route, same road, same journey as my diploma days. No change. Oh, I was going to college with a sad, dull face. Finally, I entered the Department of Information Technology. The first lecture was a practical session. If I remember correctly, it was a practical on the C programming language. And there I saw new faces, new people, including two other students like me who joined directly in the second year. I tried to blend in, smiling and making an effort to connect with them. I was attempting to break free from my depression and someone managed to make me feel normal. Yes, a new journey had begun, and I was starting to feel good, with new friends, new opportunities, and new things to do. However, deep inside, I still wasn't completely okay with this change. But I had no choice but to accept it.
Trying to fit in at college, I was very happy to have made two new friends after my diploma. We were simply enjoying the new campus, exploring new things in college, and getting to know the new teachers. Like every teacher would come and say, "You are from a diploma, which means you know everything." (Me in my mind: "If I knew everything, why would I be here? I couldn't just got job at Google.") Later, I had an interview for a club called "Team Drishti," and it was an amazing experience. Guess what? I was selected as the web coordinator for Team Drishti. I thought life was going to be chill, but then... BOOOOM! To be continued... 💣
